How Invisalign® Functions: A Comprehensive Guide
Initial Consultation and Diagnosis
Your journey to a perfect smile begins with an initial consultation at Razi Orthodontics in West Chicago. During this session, our orthodontic specialist Dr. Razi will evaluate your oral health and discuss your smile goals. We'll take digital x-rays and impressions to create a precise 3D image of your teeth, which serves as the foundation for your personalized treatment plan.
Customized Aligner Design
Using the 3D model of your teeth, we'll design a series of custom-made Invisalign® aligners tailored to fit your unique dental structure. These aligners are fabricated from a smooth, BPA-free plastic material that offers both comfort and durability. Each set of aligners is designed to make slight adjustments to the position of your teeth, following a plan pre-set by our orthodontists.
Aligner Rotation and Progress Monitoring
You'll start by wearing the first set of aligners for about 1-2 weeks, depending on your treatment plan. After that, you'll switch to the next set in the series. Each new set of aligners will gradually move your teeth closer to their final, desired positions. Periodic appointments at our West Chicago office will allow us to monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and provide you with your next sets of aligners.
Compliance and Daily Routine
For optimal results, it's crucial to wear your Invisalign® aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day. You can remove them while eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Failure to wear the aligners for the recommended time can delay your treatment progress.
In some cases, we may use advanced tracking technology to monitor the movement of your teeth in real-time. This allows us to make immediate adjustments to your treatment plan if needed, ensuring that you're always on the fastest path to your perfect smile.
Final Stages and Retainers
Once your teeth have reached their desired positions, you'll transition to wearing retainers. These are similar to your last set of aligners but are designed to maintain your new smile. Retainers are crucial for preventing your teeth from reverting to their original positions.
